Our Invitation!
Come and join Paul, Carmel and Jonathan Ashby at Ashbourne Rd. Methodist Church, Derby, on the first Saturday morning of each month, for worship, Bible teaching, prayer and fellowship.
Arrive at 9.30 a.m. for coffee and we start with worship at 10.00 a.m. Paul will then teach from the Bible for an hour, and after a comfort break, Carmel will lead our prayers.
In everything we do, we wait on the Lord for His help and guidance. The Prayer and Bible school is no substitute for church fellowship, but an opportunity to learn from the ‘meat’ of God’s Word and join with others in open and liberating prayer.
We will finish before 1.00 p.m. when soup and rolls will be served for those who wish to stay.
Bible teaching for 2010
There will be no meeting on January 2nd and we will begin the year’s session on Saturday February 3rd.
Focus on prayer
Carmel and I have a vision for integrating the Bible teaching and the prayer this year, firstly by teaching about prayer. For this reason, we will focus on the prayers of some of the great Bible characters:
6th February - The prayer of Moses (Exodus 33:18) - Praise
6th March - The prayer of David (2 Samuel 7:18-29) - Devotion
3rd April - no meeting due to Holy Week
1st May - The prayer of Solomon (2 Chronicles 7:14) - Intercession
5th June - The prayer of Manasseh (2 Chronicles 33:11-13) - Penitence
3rd July - The prayer of Mary (Luke 1:46-55) - Salvation
7th August - no meeting due to holiday season
4th September - The prayer of Peter (Acts 9:40) - Healing
6th November - The prayer of Paul (Ephesians 3:13-21) - Faith
4th December - The prayer of John (3 John 1:2) - Friendship
We will learn about the prayers of these great characters and also put their example into action. The purpose of this teaching is to help God’s people to pray fruitfully both personally, with others and in the fellowship of the church; this is an important factor in the life of all God’s people at this time.

We spend a substantial time in active prayer, picking up themes from the Bible study. Carmel leads the prayer time and guide us our prayers in ways that are open to the Spirit. We expect the Lord to speak and act powerfully as we pray and intercede.
Worship
Our worship is a duty and privilege, and it is the proper setting for all our learning.
